Vermont Senate Passes Pot Decriminalization Proposal
February 14th, 2008 By: Paul Armentano, NORML Deputy DirectorVermont’s Senate has just given final approval to Senate Bill 238. As amended, SB 238 removes criminal penalties for the possession of up to one ounce of marijuana — replacing them with a fine, but no criminal record.
The bill will now go before House members, who may be contacted here.
If passed, Vermont would be the first state since 2001 to enact legislative reform decriminalizing the possession of marijuana for personal use.
