His statements are saturated in "I'll save you if I have to kill you" psychosis. If these quotes are accurate, and I am sure that they are, he gets himself so wound up over his cause that critical thinking becomes impossible for him. As someone that does no use illegal drugs, I am now officially afraid of the DEA. (Actually I was before, but that is another interesting story.)
