WTF! Here we thought we might have a chance to see some positive change in marijuana policy with the election of Barack Obama and we got nothing but duped again. The question was asked Dec 15th 2008,

Q: “Will you consider legalizing marijuana so that the government can regulate it, tax it, put age limits on it, and create millions of new jobs and create a billion dollar industry right here in the U.S.?” S. Man, Denton….. And the response was

A: President-elect Obama is not in favor of the legalization of marijuana.

No justification, just a staff written contradicting one liner, yeah he’s giving our effort a lot of thought right.

RE: swindledagain,
Sad to say, It's not, (merely), a contradicting one-liner.
Barack Obama is NOT in favor of 'LEGALIZATION' of marijuana.
He's only in favor of 'DECRIMINALIZATION.'
They're NOT even the same thing!

(In Barack Obama's very own words, on video;
One of the 'contest-videos' by Austin Buchanan,
featuring a short news-clip of Obama,
(from 2004? / 2007?), saying,

"I'm not somebody who believes in legalization of marijuana...I think that we need to rethink and decriminalize our marijuana laws.. We need to rethink how we are operating in the drug wars, and I think that currently we are not doing a good job.")

---- That terminology-distinction is lost on too many of us hapless-hopefuls!

---- I cringe when I see / hear people using the dreaded "D" word, AS IF IT WERE synonymous with 'legalization', 'CAUSE IT'S REALLY NOT!

(Be not 'D'-ceived by ambiguous terminology and questionable shades-of-meaning!)

Ron Paul was UNambiguously FOR ENDING the War On some Drugs,
but was shut out of the Main-Stream-Media Machine, nary a mention....
not even in late-nite comedy monologues... :(

swindledagain Says:
The fact is this, we have reached a time in our country where the majority vote doesnt mean sh1t. States across the nation are in fact so tired of denying what the people want they are voting to remove Citizen Initiatives, and or to restrict the amount of time we are allowed to gather enough signatures to initiate. This means we will lose the ability as citizens to propose new bills in some states and marijuana policy will then become impossible to change. WTF? How is it possible.

Looks like another 4 to 8 years of senseless deaths and arrests to look forward to.

i agree with #22 except we can only be walked on so much before it expodes in their face and people take to the streets burning down tobacco companies and once the fever hit, politicians know they will haeto jump on the bandwagon in order to get re-elected. It dont matter how much money a compny gives for an election campaine, if everyone votes one way money dont matter, plus as soon as if ever it becomes legal, the philip morrises and pharms will jump right in on the action and try to ruin to effectivness of pot.
Pot dont kill no one ever, but let the pharms and tobacco be allowed to grow and sell, then they will lace it will all the poisons and even more than that of cigs.

In order for proper reform to take place, the government, like peoples in AA has to first reconize they have a problem, and that problem is the fact that they dont know how to admit they were wrong all along.
Getting the gov to admit they messed something up is harder than deciding how many billions to give to failed banks or banks to buy up other banks.
If they want to help the economy legalize pot, control it liek tobacco. Plus it dont help that 2 faced tobacco industries claim pot and salvia is dangerous, wtf they thunk their product has medical benifits??

After watching this issue for years and studying history, I've come to the conclusion that Cannabis will never become legal again. At least not in the sense that anyone could grow their own and use it themselves. It will be strictly regulated, we can count on that.
The Gov't has conviced us that the "sytem" the have set up (foisted upon and shoved down) for us is for our own good. While I am heartened to see the media put our Prez's feet to the fire, all to often the media will turn a blind eye to the pro-herb cause. The will of the people is a joke. Obama is a pawn like every president always is. Corporate interests and those of big govt go hand in hand. Those hands wash each others over and over. They've polluted our air, water and food and the resulting epidemics of heretofore little known diseases like MS and other nervous system disorders, auto-immune disorders and various cancers is alarming. The drug companies love it. Alcohol and Tobacco are legal because they cause health problems and hence, more drugs. The body of evidence growing in Cannabis favor is overwhelmingly that it is not harmful and actually prevents and cures cancer and treats many common diseases. It is the most nutritious of all seeds and would cure hunger in the world. It will detoxify the soil and stop deforestation virtually overnight. I could go on and on! The benefits of this plant would change the dynamics of our world overnight Hemp would affect virtually all forms of commerce overnight. Hemp can replace wood (except for lumber) cotton, gasoline, many synthetic fibers and plastics, it can be used in place of metals (Henry Ford built a car out of hemp!) and synthetic fibers. Medicinally, Hemp would be a silver bullet to the pharmaceutical industry vampires and could replace 40% of their medicines overnight. Consider also the prison system in this country. America incarcerates more people than any other country in the world - including the Communist ones! 1 in 5 Americans will spend time behind bars in their lifetime. Our rights and liberties have been trampled on by our federal government/Police state in the very name of Law and order! It's no longer the Land of the Free is it?
I'm depressing myself. My point is simply this: It will never be legal because the Powers that Be (Big Money) say it isn't. The best we can possibly hope for is the right to use it as responsible law abiding adults. That is better than nothing.
Just my 2 cents,
John

I will never give my vote or any support to some bastard who wants to see me die in a cage on account of my religious beliefs and/or health care choices. I voted for Ron Paul and I'm sorry that others who are also are at risk of dying in cages did not do the same.

If Obama is not able to respond to the 80% demand we have for LEGALIZED MEDICAL MARIJUANA (in all 50 states) then clearly he doesn't give a fuck what all you poor punch-clocks think.

We cannot suffer this injustice any more and have a responsible society which survives. Most Americans today would not lift a finger to stop me from being sent to their equivalent of the Spanish Inquisition. They would in ignorance let my goddess die along with all her memory. They do not understand that the death of my goddess is the death of the entire biosphere and theirs will come with it.

To suffer repeatedly in order to bring knowledge and healing to such people is a sign of uncompromising love.

Some things you can do to actually rock the boat-

1) STOP PAYING TAXES

2) IMPLEMENT JURY NULLIFICATION

3) COME OUT OF THE BONG-CLOSET AND LEVERAGE THE ISSUE SOCIALLY

4) CULTURAL REVOLUTION, PARTIES, DANCING

I was well known in my high school as the pothead with the perfect SAT score. I am proud to smoke the kind herb, proud to be an earth person, proud to scream the truth and willing to be beat for it if necessary.

There is one guaranteed way we can end this drug war quickly. We simply need to prosecute District Attorneys for violating the Fifth Amendment by use of plea-bargains.

Clearly it is illegal for someone to "be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself." However plea-bargain agreements use threats of harsh punishment (a compelling modus) to accomplish this exact feat. I believe that a punishment should fit the crime committed. Thus the punishment for pleading innocent and being convicted should be the same as the punishment for pleading guilty and being convicted. There should be no "reward" for forfeiting your right to a trial by jury!

If we can end plea-bargains I guarantee you jury nullification will fix the rest of this mess. All we have to do is read the constitution, and BELIEVE that we can PROSECUTE THE PROSECUTORS.

yours in love,

Hehe of course the raids will continue. Its all very simple when you look at it realistically. I used to sell drugs.....and i dont mean pot. Now yes later in life i see the wrong in those ways because the crime commited on my hands alone is alarming. But as i was dealing i saw TNT and DEA and local law scouting around town.....doing appsolutely nothing. Some of these people are the dumbest of the dumb and are hired to chase (usually dumber crack dealers) kids around in thier cars for the quick bust. These people eat up HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS a day and i know a few retarded children that could spot a dealer faster then them. With that said its only common sense whats going on here. The drugs they seize are then redistributed out to the community for resale. Seeing why they dont want it legal? If it were legal they wouldnt be able to pay for more agents for this "war on drugs" that has no chance of ever winning. Matter of fact the war on drugs falls farther and farther behind every minute. But theres no need to tell people that because they ALREADY KNOW IT. The fact is that not enough potheads do anything about it or stand up.....wait arent potheads suppose to cause violence and crime? Quick story when i finally got snitched on and busted (thank god i got busted then) the agents had me red handed. Pocket full of coke and on my way to a sale they definetly stopped some violence cause my customers were not friendly people to anyone but me. I convinced them not to go to my address on my insurance policy ( the stash house) but to go to my address and i let them in with my key. They proceeded to steal $26,000 from my safe and my favorite pornos and video games (funny none of it showed up on the report). Later in court i smacked them in the face because they forgot to have me sign the waver, that says i gave them permission to enter, before they handed me off to the state barracks. I dodged a bullet and learned a valuable lesson on thier expense yes but I was a criminal. Whats to say about the 26,000 and stolen property? They werent even bitter about having to let me off because there was news crews outside the courthouse i said id like to have a word with. Now i know there are good cops (damn good cops) out there but the tactical narcotics teams and replicas are mostly a pile of highered vigilantes that dont stand up for the law nor follow it. And guess who pays for thse people to be out there everyday.....the busted pot smokers =(. It will never be legal and if it is you will never be able to grow your own until more people stand up to this BS that is going on. And about Obamas brother being busted.....what a dumb excuse to take a shot at his family or his credibility. There are alot of racists and liberals that dont what him messing up thier vacation homes and pensions they dont deserve yes but in the end this guy (allegedly) is gonna get things done. So basically if you do plan on growing pot or what have you just plant cameras around your home so when the police do show up youll catch them doing something they have no business doing inturn getting your charges thrown out =)....happy smoking
