First off, it should be stated that anyone that disagrees with legalizing/decriminalizing pot is totally justified, and I would happily fight for their right to make their opinion known.

It should also be said however, that any actual efforts to fight, dissuade, or insult and demean our points of view on pot better not be religious, because judgement is reserved for god and god alone, and had better not consider themselves good Americans, as this country was founded on the freedoms of all, the beliefs of all, and has evolved to encompass the dreams of all. Make your choices, I don't mind. Teach your children that mankind was born of the decisions of a man, a woman, and a talking snake. That's your choice. Leave me my choices, and respect my right to make them.

Thank you NORML

P.S. This whole argument that 'stoners' are -always- stoned doesn't hold any water. If you're drunk at work, you'll get in trouble, and every 'stoner' will be held to the same standards as that. Cigarettes are legal, and horrible. Booze is legal, and horrible. Do some actual reading of unbiased information. Cannibus is -not- horrible, and it's not dangerous. Stop being judgemental, because it just makes you look silly.

I'm hoping this reaches the right place... I enjoyed the commercial. I have an idea I'm not sure how to get off the ground, maybe you could help. Lets round a petition, collect as many names as possible over the next three and a half years, set it on obama's desk, and let him know the amount of people who won't vote for him if he allows prosecution on even recreational users. This is a democracy. Lets all remember it's not the job of our government to police us based on an elitist ideology. It's their job to police us as the majority decides. You can find a CNN pole online that says 95% want it legal. isn't that a majority?
I myself have been saddled with a mental illness. The problems I see with only allowing marijuana as medicine is; people with no problems will fake them for the free pass. I myself have found no relief from my psychotic episodes, marijuana waylays my bouts but historically you should brew in a tea which noone can afford to do for several reasons. First, the cost would be outragous without growing you own. And Second, if you had enough to make a potent tea you would undoubtedly be arrested for a long time. Please help me with this petition. If Obama's email recieves enough names this might help. thanks.

I wonder how many people have died from alcohol poisoning, liver failure, drunk drivers and just drunken stupidity in general. As far as I know not one person has ever died a cannabis related death. Plus I have heard straight from the mouths of many police officers that they would much rather deal with someone who was stoned than someone who was drunk. Not saying I'm an Anti-Alcohol kinda gal but if the government says all the negative side effects of liquor are worth the financial payoff of the industry then why not cannabis. I know many who are otherwise wonderful people but they have allowed alcohol to ruin there lives. If any group of recreational drug users are mindless self destructive zombies it is most definitely not the stoner set. In fact in my personal experience the cannabis users I’ve met tend to be very open-minded, healthy eating, active, creative and quite intelligent people. Basically I hope that the majority of America will see the light and change their attitudes toward cannabis. And thank you NORMAL because TV ads will drastically help. Cannabis should be treated like alcohol in America. You should have to have a license to sell it, it should be taxed, and you should have to be 21 to buy it. With the money being wasted on this “war on drugs”, the money being lost out on by not taking advantage of the profit to be made off of America’s biggest cash crop and the loss of the valuable hemp products we could be producing; we are doing our country a grave disservice by keeping it illegal. Why should ignorant, old school ways of thinking dictate 21st century laws? How is it at all constitutional to lock people up for possession of a plant that doesn’t hurt anyone? Cannabis being illegal is causing far more harm to the American people than good. Kids come across harder drugs because to often they get cannabis from someone who is in the business of selling the harder stuff as well. Wanna be gangster crimes are committed everyday because of the illegal drug seller’s lifestyle. Don’t we want a drastic decrease of such events? Don’t we want to take the goodness this plant can provide and harvest it for our economy’s benefit? Don’t we want to use hemp to make higher quality products? Don’t we want sick people in pain to be able to live out the rest of their days being functional, happy and pain free? We are currently wasting a valuable plant our planet can produce naturally. It’s the 21st century America, Wake up! Cannabis should be legal because smoking cannabis is NORMAL!!!

I agree. You John Carnavale are an antisocial. You are the minority standing in the way of freedom. Leave me alone. I am an adult and quite capable of making sound decisions for myself. You and your ilk make me live like a criminal in my 'free' country. Shame on you.You cannot recoup the damage that has been done to generations of peace loving citizens who are trapped in your insidious web of false propaganda.Go away.

My comment is for the idiot, John Carnevale. Boy, you have been in D.C. too long. Did you fall off the turnip truck or did someone push you off? Get out of the closet and read some scientific data about marijuana as a medicine. Wake up John Boy. Get a life or something. Just saying that marijuana has no medical value is the height of ignorance. We have passed the thing of no medical value a long time ago. I hope that when you get to be my age that you suffer with as much pain as I do and you have to use synthetic pills for it.
Signed an ignorant hillbilly in WV that knows more than you.

I felt like a left out a few things in my proposal. There would be absolutely no demands of any kind. The only course of action would be smoking a "j" while gathering around a police station. The only illegal activity that should be partaken is the smoking of chron. Although that would irritate/infuriate many people, there would be no point in making them that much more irritated/infuriated. Just smoke that weed and watch how the government handles it. Something would have to happen; Every action has an equal, opposite reaction. There is absolutely no way that jailing everyone would be plausable. My guess is that the officials would just fine you and make you take some kind of lame class or community service. It would then take everyone to just ignore there sentence and would put the government back in checkmate. Once again, the government would then have the same problem to deal with. This may not be as well thought out as it should be or even the best idea, but with the shear number and size of support for marijuana legalization, there has to be some kind of physical action that we can do to catalyze the inevitable...LEGALIZATION!!!
