Weed the People: Over 35,000 Strong for Marijuana Legalization
-
September 26, 2011
It was just last Thursday that the White House launched their petition website, “We the People.” That morning, NORML submitted a petition calling for the legalization of marijuana. In just four short days the petition has received over 35,000 signatures, making it the most signed petition on the website by nearly 15,000 names. Thousands of Americans are calling upon President Obama to end marijuana prohibition and more are joining in every minute.
While the caliber of the President’s response may, in the end, be questionable, what is unquestionable is that this outpouring of support generated a large, positive, media buzz for marijuana legalization. Including coverage on the Dylan Ratigan Show on MSNBC.

yea.. I know like 1984 style
It is time NORML fights “fire with fire”! Things are starting to get ugly about marijuana. This is the time to do a force ralley around the USA, and tell the goverment enough of the marjuana war for good!
@52 – I’m with you! Why are we not protesting this incredible injustice in the streets? I know it didn’t work back in the 60′s but maybe it will work now if done correctly and if it was properly organized.
How about it NORML? Perhaps next 420 we could actually make our voices heard instead of simply getting punked again by our President.
Need an Organizer? YES
Need support of groups that already have clout? YES
How about getting support by huge groups, such as the Hospice & Palliative Care Association or the American Nurses Association (ANA), where ‘Caring’ is purported as the science & the art? While the support of random large groups could be a good strategy fir the sake of numbers, those large respected groups possessing respect, clout & historical impact, who might also be genuinely compassionate to this cause, could support a strong, respectable ‘networking’ strategy, where ‘common causes’ get attention. Thoughts, ideas?
lets hope they don’t just toss this in the trash but i am

Legalize it! !!!!
The bottom line? By contributing $50 to a progressive political campaign, you can make Oregon a better place – and it won’t cost you a dime. Married, filing jointly? It’s $50 per person – so you and your spouse can donate $100 and get it all back!
