Free Viewing Of Important Documentary: Breaking The Taboo

  • by Allen St. Pierre, Former NORML Executive Director December 19, 2012

The producers of an important and well-received film documentary have contacted NORML asking for help to make as many free viewings of Breaking The Taboo as possible before the film goes into traditional theater distribution. Of the many documentaries in NORML’s forty two year-old archives, this SunDog Pictures produced film is a real stand out for it’s scope and breadth.

The film, narrated by actor Morgan Freeman, has received a terrific amount of publicity buzz regarding the subject matter (ending the war on some drugs…) as well for three of the key people interviewed in the documentary: former U.S. presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, and current president of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos.

All three men went on the record acknowledging the failures of the current policies and favor substantive reforms, notably Mr. Carter, who favors cannabis legalization.

This outstanding one hour documentary has already been viewed by nearly 470,000 concerned citizens from around the world.

Spanish-speaking version (narrated by Mexican actor/director Gael Garcia Bernal) is available here.

If I had my way, this movie would be required viewing for every Senator, Congressman, Judge, and President Obama. They need to realize that the truth is out and they may as well come clean on this issue and do the right thing: Legalize and Regulate! Continuing to do the same thing after 75 years (busting and ruining good peoples lives) is just complete idiocy!

GOOD movie. Liked almost every second especially because I had herbal help. Yeah this insane war on people, children, has got to stop. Pot makes you feel good and PEOPLE like to do it. It’s safe. It’s the SAFEST drug. Governments NEED money $$$$. It has so many good uses like medical, industrial, recreational, etc. People CAN and WILL change this and any other bad law in the not so distant future. Yes we CANnabis! 420

I’m glad to see NORML is finally picking up on this fine film. I’ve already watched it three times.

It’s a film that is very easy to share on Facebook, etc, so share it with your friends!

Great movie! I also wanted to let everyone know that in Seattle, the chief of police has changed the rules of hiring since cannabis passed here. It used to be that officers being considered for Seattle PD used to have been cannabis free for 3 years and it is being changed to 1 (yep, one) year! Getting with the program already! Yay! Also, nothing changes for medical use of cannabis and so we are moving ahead to where we should have been since the 30’s. Now what about the people in jail on cannabis busts?
      Thank you for reading.
